Every venue requires a different setup. for the salty suite I had to spend $300 on extra equipment just to stream, which I didn’t even have at the time (I had to sell shirts at evo to even cover it). Also my mixer died and had to be replaced after the fact setting me back another hundred just so I could stream guard crush 4 when I got home. The equipment is not permanently brought and set in stone don’t kid yourself.

    2) I travel to these venues. I don’t actually even get to play in the tournaments most of the time. Instead I spend money out of my own pocket to get there just to stream for 8 + hours for viewers and the tourney organizer to go back home empty handed. There is a reason other people don’t do this – no one has to ability to pay for a service that realistically should be billed out at $100 an hour or more. I think it’s unfair to expect me to pay for myself to get to a venue and stream it for free, then tell me I am unjust in asking for donations — that’s just insulting.

    3) I specifically pay for an expensive internet service at home just to be able to provide higher quality streams. Let me tell you that special Team Sp00ky vs Gootecks stream would not have looked anywhere near as good on DSL/Cable, and thats just an old example.

    That doesn’t even get into nickel and dime expenses that almost always come up at these events. This is a thankless job and your attitude just makes it more thankless.

He has to pay extra money for the first part of that data streaming due to the huge amount of bandwidth that would be required.
